O man, take the name of the Lord Shiva, fulfiller of desires.

When Ravana repeated your name with tenacity of mind,

O Lord, all the gods came under his command.

Being worshiped by Nandi, you immediately removed

all afflictions; as when Upamanyu Muni

practiced austerity for your sake,

by your grace you turned the ocean into sweet milk.

Brahmananda [the poet] asks only this boon:

O Lord, please grant me eternal devotion to Thee.
